19 Cities/Counties Battle for Nationals This Weekend at USTA Florida Adult Mixed Tennis Chps.

SR.LEAGUE_ORDERFORMS_2010-2Thirty teams representing 19 different cities/counties will converge on the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach this weekend for the 2010 USTA Florida Adult Mixed 6.0 & 7.0 Championships, Oct. 8-10, 2010. Division winners will represent Florida at the USTA Adult Mixed National Championships next month in Tucson, Ariz.

Defending 6.0 champion Jacksonville, again captained by Jeff Dao and playing out of Boone Park, returns to the Florida Tennis Center to seek another trip to nationals, last year edging second-place Pensacola. The Orlando squad from Sanlando Park/Altamonte Springs is the defending champ in the 7.0 division, last year advancing to nationals to represent Florida after finishing ahead of second-place Gainesville/Lake City.

"USTA Florida welcomes captains and players representing the winning local teams for the 6.0 and 7.0 divisions," said Jodi Manning, event coordinator for mixed leagues. "I look forward to an exciting weekend of tennis and wish all teams the best of luck!"

Here are the teams competing in the 2010 USTA Florida Adult Mixed Championships:

6.0 Division Teams
Brevard (captain Theresa Howard), Gainesville/Lake City (Mark Martin), Hillsborough County (Raul Garcia), Jacksonville (Jeff Dao), Lee/Charlotte counties (Regina Correia), Ocala (Yasmine Okonkwo), Pensacola (John Wimberly), Polk County (Paige Turner), Sarasota (Peter Ceccacci), South Miami/Dade (Yamila Porras), Tallahassee (Debbie Hall), Volusia/Flagler counties (John Hanes).

7.0 Division Teams
Brevard County (captain William Snyder), Broward County (Kevin Sims), Emerald Coast region (Amy Brown), Gainesville/Lake City (Russ Waters), Hillsborough County (Elvin Vargas), Jacksonville (James Osborne), Lee/Charlotte counties (Dan Campbell), Naples (Sharon Hendrix), North Palm Beach (Gabrielle Warrington), Ocala (William Nassal), Orlando (Blaine Roseberry), Pensacola (Gordon Paulus), Pinellas County (William Kebler), Polk County (Frances Rosa), South Miami/Dade (Mark D'Aguilar), Tallahassee (Melanie Allman), Treasure Coast region (Shamsher Singh), Volusia/Flagler counties (Laura Stapleton).

The 2010 USTA Adult League 7.0 Mixed National Championship will be held on Nov. 12-14, 2010, at the Hilton El Conquistador Tucson in Tucson, Ariz. The 2010 USTA Adult League 6.0 Mixed National Championship will be held on Nov. 19-21, 2010, at the same location.
