10andunderlogowebUSTA Florida and the Lake Lytal Tennis Center in West Palm Beach, Fla., will host a 10 and Under Tennis QuickStart Workshop on Jan. 7, 2012, from 1-4:30 p.m., geared toward parents, teaching pros, high school students, tennis directors, P.E. teachers, after-school staff, and high school students working with youngsters.

"On Jan. 1, 2012 the global rules of tennis for 10 and under players will change forever with rules dictating new court sizes, new scoring formats, new racquet sizes, and new balls," said USTA Florida Tennis Program Coordinator for the Palm Beaches area Janet Sprague. "Don't miss this opportunity to learn all about this revolutionary change."

USTA National Trainer Susan Allshouse will conduct the workshop, which will be hands-on, on-court and interactive. The workshop gives an overview of the 10 and Under Tennis/QuickStart Tennis play format and its six variables for success. Each participant will also receive a set of 10 and Under Tennis practice plans.

"This workshop is key for parents to get involved and become a tennis volunteer with the 10 and Under Tennis play format in a USTA Jr. Team Tennis league, and will provide participants with the perceived competence of being a tennis coach," Sprague said.

All participants must register online at http://ustaworkshoplakelytal.eventbrite.com/. For additional information contact Janet Sprague at (561) 385-7399 or sprague@florida.usta.com.
