USA Tennis Florida Continues In-Depth Community Outreach

June 22, 2004 10:12 AM

In an effort to better serve all of our constituents and to meet the local needs of more communities in Florida, the Board of Directors of USA Tennis Florida has voted to restructure the state, as of the Annual Meeting, December, 2004, from 19 Districts to 8 regions with volunteer county tennis representatives in each region serving as the local USA Tennis Florida contact.  In addition, the Board of Directors budgeted to have Community Coordinators for each region.   Three new Community Tennis Personnel are in place and ready to assist their regions to promote the development of tennis in Florida.  Click here for restructured state map.

Dede Allen comes to us via USTA Player Development in Key Biscayne.  She recently relocated to Jacksonville and will be a Community Tennis Consultant for the north part of Region 2.  (See map - Nassau, Duval, St. John, Putnam, Clay, Baker, Union, and Bradford Counties)  More information on Dede.

Susie Bessire has been a USA Tennis Florida volunteer for a number of years in League Tennis, Community Tennis and also in Recreational Tennis.  Susie is a full time Community Coordinator for the Region 7 area. (See map - Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Glades, Hendry Counties) More information on Susie.

Barbara Kaiser is a tennis volunteer from Sarasota and is our Community Tennis Consultant covering the new Region 5 area.  (See map - Manatee, Sarasota, Hardee, DeSoto, Highlands Counties) More information on Barbara.

Some decisions are still to be made regarding Region 8 (Dade, Broward, Monroe Counties) and the south part of Region 2 (Gainesville/Ocala area).  Stay tuned for these announcements!

Welcome to these wonderful new staff members who will help us continue impacting tennis throughout Florida.
