District 19 USTA Members Introduce Friends and Spouses to USA Tennis Florida

November 3, 2004 08:57 AM
The rain may have dampened the tennis, but Lunch was still Yummy!

District 19’s USA League Tennis players certainly can have fun—even when they aren’t playing tennis!  More than 200 players responded positively when they received an invitation to District 19’s Appreciation Party, sponsored by the PGA Credit Union, a Division of IBM Southeast Employees’ Federal Credit Union.  The party was held at the Tennis Club of the Palm Beaches, October 23rd.  Unfortunately, about 10 minutes to party time, the rains came.  The good news was that there was plenty of food, drinks, prizes, and camaraderie to have a great time anyway!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Susan Ruede, District 19 Director, shared her idea with the District’s executive committee.  She thought that the best way to celebrate the new Regional Structure for USA Tennis Florida was to have a party to appreciate all our league players in our District. Each past and present league player was invited to bring a guest who didn’t play leagues.  Teams came, friends came, spouses came, and a great time was had by all!  A special plaque and flowers were given to Susan in appreciation of all her efforts as District Director.  Also receiving special acknowledgement was PGA Credit Union, a Division of IBM Southeast Employees’ Federal Credit Union for their financial support of the event and our facility hosts Amy and Doug Uzdilla of Tennis Club of Palm Beach.

Janet Sprague and Sherry Beckman Thank Susan Ruede for her Service to District 19.

Thank you’s and kudos go out to all our wonderful event volunteers who made this event possible:  Marian Green, Wendall & Jean Morrow, Margaret Ruede, Bob and Barb Milligan and Ken Johnson.  Of course, a special thank you to Janet Sprague, USA Tennis Community Coordinator, who provided help and behind the scenes assistance wherever it was needed!
