USA Tennis Florida’s 55th Annual Meeting

December 14, 2004 12:08 PM
USA TENNIS FLORIDA held its 55th Annual Meeting December 3rd to 5th at the Marriott, West Palm Beach. The Section has established a new governance structure composed of 8 Regions across Florida and has assigned each region a Regional Director, as well as each county within the regions, a County Representative. This has now eliminated the existing 19 Florida Districts. The Section has also assigned a fulltime Community Coordinator (and in some regions two) to each Region to assist with delivery of varied tennis programs that support the Section’s mission "To Promote and Develop Tennis in Florida.”

Don Cleveland of Delray Beach was installed as USA Tennis Florida’s President (see related story).

Highlights of the 3 day meeting were a tennis round robin and bar-be-cue dinner at the Tennis Club of Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, an awards luncheon recognizing volunteers who have given so much of their time and energy to the betterment of tennis, a silent auction to benefit the USTA Florida Section Foundation, Inc., and dinner dance, inductions into the Florida Hall of Fame of Dave Beerman, David Hall, Joaquim Rasgado, and Rollie Shae, and, of course, the 55th Annual Members Meeting.  Merit Award Winners were Nancy Rasgado and Joe Tartaglino.

All Regional directors, County Representatives, and Community Coordinators, will seek opportunities to promote and develop tennis from the entry level to the competitive level, inclusive of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Volunteers will be needed to support their efforts. Please refer to the following links:
