New Spanish Language Website to Feature Tennis Tips, Community and Professional Tennis News

The USTA announced the launch of USTA en Español (www.ustaenespanol.com), a Spanish language version of the USTA’s official website targeting the Hispanic community.

The move is the latest in an expanded effort by the USTA to increase multicultural participation in the sport.  The website offers a convenient way for the Hispanic market to access information on tennis in Spanish.

USTAenEspanol.com has many of the same programming features found on USTA.com, including information on tennis facilities with bilingual certified teaching pros as well information on how to get involved in the sport at the community level -- with sign up information for leagues, tournaments, team tennis programs, USTA membership and volunteer initiatives.   The site also will feature recreation and pro tennis news, tips, a connection to the Tennis Welcome Center site where visitors can learn to play tennis fast, USTA news, membership information, and more.

“By creating this new website, we hope to better serve current and potential Hispanic tennis fans and players," said Franklin Johnson, Chairman of the Board and President, USTA.  “This is a significant development in our ongoing efforts to diversify the sport’s player and fan base.”

"The launch of USTAenEspanol.com establishes a direct dialogue to the Hispanic community,” said Karlyn Lothery, Chief Diversity Officer, USTA.  “Through this site we hope to better connect the bilingual and Spanish speaking community with tennis programs and instructors."

According to a recent USTA/Tennis Industry Association Participation Study, 20% of all new tennis players in the U.S. are Hispanic.
