FSU's Mat Cloer Wins ITA/Arthur Ashe Award

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its national award winners for NCAA Division I men's tennis and inducted the Class of 2005 into the ITA Men's Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame at the College Station Hilton Hotel in Texas on May 25th.

Florida State senior Mat Cloer is this year's ITA/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship recipient. This award goes to goes to a player who has exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements. Cloer, a two-time Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, has also been active off the court. He has dedicated over 100 hours of community service to various causes, including hurricane relief help, the Special Olympics and the United States Tennis Association's First Serve program which provides mentoring for inner-city youth.
