Award Winning Magazine Profiles USA Tennis Florida

USA Tennis Florida is proud to announce that the award winning magazine, Association Management, chose USA Tennis Florida’s success story in Daytona Beach to exemplify to other associations the city, county, business, and association cooperation that enabled the building and establishment of the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach.  In the June 2005 edition, a story contributed by Audrey Jones, former Coordinator of Sponsorship and Operations of USA Tennis Florida, detailed the dream, the diligence, the perseverance, and the teamwork of many to enable the reality.

The article highlights the corroboration of the key planners and thinkers of the various organizations.  It discusses the dream of Jean Mills, Director of Spa and Tennis for the Polo Club, Boca Raton, then Board President of USA Tennis Florida, and Executive Director, Doug Booth, and the foresight of the Board of Directors of USA Tennis Florida.  Particularly mentioned for invaluable support are John Saboor, Executive Director of the Central Florida Sports Commission, and George Mirabal, president of the Chamber Daytona Beach/ Halifax Area.  The role of the Consolidated-Tomoka Land Company with their donation of an 18-acre parcel to assist with the building of a world-class tennis center near their land development project was also hailed as a good business decision.

While the story unfolds to other associations as a step-by-step “how-to” process, it concludes with the win-win-win result to date.  “USA Tennis Florida has proven itself a strong team player in this partnership.  The association strategically schedules its championships around the area’s other special events, including NASCAR’s Daytona 500.  This is a true benefit to the city’s hotels and restaurants for maximizing revenues, economic impact currently estimated at $3.5 million…. Participation in USA Tennis Florida’s 10 Championship events continues to grow by about 3 percent each year…(adding to this revenue). The association’s operating expenses remain flat for its events, while sponsorship revenues are on the rise.”  The facility has won awards and amateur tennis has grown in the state of Florida due to the central headquarters.

is an award-winning magazine that is distributed nationally to the 23,000 members of ASAE (American Society of Association Executives), who are CEOs and senior managers of trade associations, professional societies, and charitable organizations.  Many public and university libraries are among the subscribers.  The magazine has been published continuously for 55 years.  It won the silver award in the magazine feature article category in the 2005 Society of National Association Publications Excel Awards competition.
