Philippe Dore Honored as September Volunteer of the Month

September 1, 2005 04:00 AM
Director of Advanced Media for the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Philippe Dore has certainly given back to the sport he said gives him so much.  Many USA Tennis Florida affiliates have observed his commitment to the sport and now want to honor him as the September volunteer of the month!

A husband to Heather and father to 16-month-old Julia, Philippe still finds time to devote much of his life to tennis.  His formal volunteer positions include one year as 2nd Vice-President for the First Coast Tennis Foundation, (FCTF,) and four years as tournament director for USTA National Husband-Wife Clay Court Championships.

Philippe’s dedication to these volunteer positions has not been overlooked by USA Tennis Florida.  “He works his tail off in the tennis world and still manages to find time to volunteer in a major way,” USA Tennis Florida board member REB Phillips said.  “He is one of the most active volunteers and a key player in the First Coast Tennis Foundation’s growth.”

Philippe is currently working on getting a monthly newsletter started for the Jacksonville area.  He introduced various marketing tools to the FCTF, including promotional materials such as pamphlets, tournament flyers and posters.

FCTF Executive Director and USA Tennis Florida board member Janice Smith is impressed by Philippe’s many talents.  “Phil became a member of the FCTF Board of Directors and immediately assumed responsibility for all marketing and public relations,” Janice said. “Posters for all events have a more professional look, and the Web site has been cleaned up and remains fresh and up to date.”

Janice said Philippe’s devotion to the USTA National Husband-Wife Clay Court Championships has brought thousands of dollars to the First Coast Tennis Foundation.

This French Canadian from Quebec is not simply a tennis volunteer. Philippe earned a tennis scholarship to attend the University of North Florida, and he was the 2002 winner of the USTA National 30s Doubles Clay Court Championship with former colleague Paul Settles.

Thank you for helping USA Tennis Florida in its mission to promote and develop tennis in Florida! Congratulations, Philippe!!
