USTA Rapid Rally Tennis

November 16, 2005 08:50 AM
The USTA, along with the United States Olympic Committee and Kellogg’s, have come together to offer an incredible opportunity for Physical Educators and their students!  This is not simply an opportunity for students to try the greatest sport on earth, (TENNIS of course!) but an opportunity for them to compete against children their own age from across the state, region and even nationally!  The Junior Olympic Skills Competition is a national skills participation program that provides boys and girls ages 8 to 13 the opportunity to showcase their athletic ability in four sports:  basketball, track & field, soccer and TENNIS!

USTA Rapid Rally Tennis is the name of the game, and this opportunity is FREE to host sites (schools, parks, clubs) and the children that participate in them.  This flyer provides some basic information about the program that will be launched in early 2006.  For further details and information on how to sign your school up as an official USTA Rapid Rally site, allowing your students to participate, please visit:  http://www.usolympicteam.com/joskills/.

This is a great activity to include in your tennis units as Physical Educators and it can also be used in after-school programs on and off campus.  Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity by visiting the website above and register to become a host site.  The best part, (besides being free,) is that a host site does not need to host all four sports.  They can host just one sport (TENNIS) if they’d like or all four sports.

If you have any questions about this program please contact Andy McFarland at the USTA Florida Office.
