2006 US OPEN TICKETS ON SALE

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., June 11, 2006 - The USTA today announced that individual session tickets for the 2006 US Open, the highest-attended annual sporting event in the world, will go on sale Monday, June 12, at 9 a.m. ET. The US Open will include instant replay line calling technology for the first time at a Grand Slam this year.

After setting an all-time attendance record of 659,538 last year, the 2006 US Open is expected to attract over 650,000 fans and will include more than 250 of the world's top tennis athletes, representing over 60 countries during the two-week event. 

The 2006 US Open will be held Monday, August 28 through Sunday, September 10. Arthur Ashe Kids' Day presented by Hess, a full-day tennis and music festival for children and families, will take place Saturday, August 26.  Tickets for the 2006 US Open and Arthur Ashe Kids' Day can be purchased four ways:

The US Open will debut instant replay technology, with a player challenge system, on Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong Stadiums. Once a player challenges, the official replay will be provided simultaneously to the television broadcast and in-stadium video boards, allowing on-site fans and television viewers the opportunity to see the live results of a player challenge.

From Monday, August 28 through the quarterfinals on Thursday, September 7, there will be day sessions beginning at 11 a.m. and night sessions beginning at 7 p.m. Finals Weekend will feature the women's semifinals Friday, September 8; the men's semifinals Saturday, September 9; the Women's Singles Final in Primetime at 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 9; and the Men's Singles Final at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 10.

The USTA National Tennis Center box office hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.  The box office will be closed Sundays and July 3-4. Payment can be made by credit card - - American Express is the Official Card of the US Open. The 2006 US Open will mark the culmination of the US Open Series, the six-week summer tennis season linking all major ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour tournaments in North America to the US Open.  The US Open is the highest annually-attended sporting event in the world.  More than 87 million viewers watched the 2005 US Open on CBS Sports and USA Network, and international broadcasts reached 184 countries.  In 2005, Roger Federer defeated Andre Agassi to win his second consecutive US Open in a men's final that saw domestic television ratings double from the previous year. In the women's singles final, US Open Series winner Kim Clijsters defeated Mary Pierce and - along with her US Open Series bonus - collected $2.2 million in prize money, the highest-payout in the history of women's sports.
