Florida residents receive player incentive awards

June 30, 2006 02:29 PM

James DeSanctis of Port Orange was one of ten individuals honored with a $500 national USTA Tennis & Education Foundation Player Incentive Award.  James has been a USTA tournament player since 1999, and he was chosen as the 2005 Most Valuable Player at Spruce Creek High School!  Congratulations, James!

For the first time, USTA Florida decided to award ten more Florida residents with incentive awards ranging from $125 to $350.  To be eligible, students had to show participation history in USTA programming, whether it was through schools programs, NJTL, Jr. Team Tennis and/or tournaments.

Recipients include:

  • Jessica and Brianna Rivera of Lauderdale Lakes
  • Aaron Smith of Cape Coral
  • James McLane of Green Cove Springs
  • Justin Butsch of Miami Beach
  • Arrice Robinson of Daytona Beach
  • Refael Alvarez of Miami Beach
  • Taylor Anne Morgan of Jacksonville
  • Heidi Lazcano of Miami Beach
  • Monica Chow of Miami

“This is the first time USTA Florida has rewarded students with incentive awards,” USTA Florida Associate Executive Director, Community Tennis Andy McFarland said. “All of the recipients participate in a USTA program of some kind, either recreationally or competitively.  That was a huge criteria for them winning an award.”

Congratulations, and good luck in your future tennis endeaors!
