Greater Miami Tennis Foundation Names New Executive Director

January 4, 2007 10:37 AM

Donna Marie Stewart of Miami Shores has been appointed executive director of the Greater Miami Tennis Foundation, a charitable organization that creates tennis and education programs to meet the needs of Miami children, many of whom are at-risk.

After a careful search, the Greater Miami Tennis Foundation is delighted to welcome Donna to lead our team, especially in her role to build community and corporate relationships as the foundation continues to grow,” said Ed Rubinoff, chairman of the board.

As executive director, Stewart will supervise the day-to-day operations at the Greater Miami Tennis Foundation, which administers tennis and education programs to 1,000 children weekly at six Miami neighborhood parks and seven public schools. The flagship program is housed at the Ashe-Buchholz Tennis Center at Moore Park in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood.

"Moore Park is like home to me because my sons participated in the summer tennis camp program.  I served as a volunteer and played USTA League Tennis representing Moore Park. I have seen the workings of the foundation firsthand, and my children have benefited greatly from the coaches, the tutoring and the life skills projects," Stewart said.

Stewart specializes in public relations and marketing with 18 years of experience in the business community. Most recently she was director of communications for Phillips Consulting Group and a special projects director for Circle of One Marketing. She also worked on corporate and creative communications for a variety of Miami based businesses.

Her accomplishments include establishing an Atlanta based presence-marketing firm, The Mission Group, and managing conventions and tradeshows for a video entertainment association and a medical association. A native of New York, Stewart earned a degree in marketing from State University of New York at New Paltz.

“I am certain that my passion for the game of tennis combined with my background in public relations, marketing and special events will enhance the image that the Greater Miami Tennis Foundation currently enjoys.  My goal is to represent the foundation in a fashion that remains true to the mission and objectives of the organization,” Stewart said.

Good luck Donna in your new endeavor and congratulations!
