Delray Beach,  FL  (February 15,  2007) - The organizers  of the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships ATP event have won a bid to host one of the most prestigious amateur tennis events in the United States, adding to the number of potential tournaments that could be held at the Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center.

Players  International  Management (PIM), headed by Delray Beach ITC tournament director Mark Baron, has secured the 50-year-old USTA Boys’ 16s & 18s  Clay Court National  Championships,  becoming PIM’s  most prestigious amateur event to date. The event has been held in Washington, D.C. for more than 10 years, and was awarded to PIM from among multiple bidding groups.

The annual event is estimated to bring 400 junior players and 1,200 visitors to the area and an economic impact of more than $1.25 million.  "Like the other junior events we’ve secured through bidding, we are extremely excited to host this major USTA national event," said Baron, who finished hosting the 15th annual Delray Beach ITC a week ago.

“We’ve already had calls from other areas, but our goal is to keep it in Delray Beach and make this city the place where the best junior players come to compete.”

The event could give the Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis center a trifecta of junior events for 2007; the facility is already hosting the USTA Boys & Girls 12s National  Spring Championships
(April  8-14) and the USTA Summer Smash Regionals (September 1-4); two events that combined will  bring more than 1,500 visitors to Delray Beach, including junior tennis players and their families.

The newly-secured Championships would be held July 14-22 and televised both statewide and nationally, reaching an estimated 20 million homes. A College Coaches Forum will be held in conjunction with the event, bringing more than 100 NCAA College Coaches to the site.

In addition, the winner of the Boys’ 18s Singles Division would receive a rare opportunity - a main draw wild card to participate in the 2008 ATP Delray Beach International Championships!
