Seeking County Representatives for USTA Florida

January 29, 2008 10:28 AM

Dear USTA Florida Member,

In 2005, USTA Florida changed its governance structure from 19 districts to eight (8) regions to cover the 67 counties in Florida. We added the position of County Representatives for every county. Currently, we have 39 County Representatives appointed to 32 counties (some counties have two County Representatives who have been appointed).  Appointments are made by the President. I have asked the Community Tennis Council to assist through its Advocacy Committee in recruiting County Representatives for the counties where there are none; these individuals should also be interested in serving as tennis advocates for their county of residence. Please visit our website www.ustaflorida.com to see the ad or just click here!

USTA Florida is seeking volunteers to serve as County Representatives to promote and advocate for tennis in the county of residence beginning with an inventory of tennis facilities/courts and tennis programs in the county.  The volunteers should have an interest and desire to promote and advocate for tennis in their county; also the ability to do research in the county and to input data into an archive system; also knowledge and interest in the political environment of their county.

Please assist in getting the word out to anyone you know who meets the qualifications described above. Anyone who is interested in serving as a County Representative should personally contact Terri Florio by email at terri@malwashington.com.  We are taking applicants for every county as we are also interested in identifying and growing our advocacy base in all of the counties.

Any assistance that you can provide at any time will be greatly appreciated.

Celia Rehm, President
USTA Florida
