Membership Appreciation Day at Bausch & Lomb

April 10, 2008 02:44 PM

This year, the Bausch & Lomb Championships at Amelia Island Plantation in Amelia Island delivered one of most stellar player fields since its beginning in 1980.  No. 5 WTA player and superstar Maria Sharapova made her first appearance ever at the tournament, while fan favorite Lindsay Davenport made another comeback appearance since the birth of her son Jagger Jonathan Leach in June last year.  In addition to the exciting tournament, USTA Florida held its final USTA Membership Appreciation Day on Tuesday, April 8, from 1-3p.m.

Although USTA Membership Appreciation Day happened to fall during Lindsay Davenport’s midday match against fellow American Vania King, many USTA members still flocked to the hospitality tent to receive their free USTA gift and delicious lunch.  Eight lucky members collected free USTA Florida paraphernalia after winning the raffle drawings, and all members were treated to a special appearance from American WTA professional player, Jill Craybas.  Jill addressed the crowd and signed autographs for fifteen minutes.

Special thanks goes out to USTA Florida volunteers Sharon Vodenicker and Susan Rowley, and staff members Linda Matthews, Shelly Licorish, Ann Brown, Andy Gladstone, Jodi Manning and Sandy Marshall for their help at the USTA Membership Booth and during Membership Appreciation Day.  Thanks to all members for attending Member Appreciation Day and stopping by the booth to renew, extend, or join the USTA.  We are continually working hard to make Membership Appreciation Days as pleasurable as possible, and we look forward to seeing you at the U.S. Open in August for the USTA National Membership Appreciation Day!
