USTA Florida on the Move

March 2, 2009 01:45 PM

USTA Florida is moving forward as an organization, instilling new goals that will increase quality and consistent USTA programming statewide. In this effort, many changes have occurred. In addition to newly named Tennis Program Coordinators (TPCs), a number of internal USTA Florida staff have shifted their focus and/or jobs to help the association reach its mission and goals. Following are the major changes that have been made with USTA Florida staff this spring:

· A new division called the Play Tennis Division, led by Associate Executive Director, Andy McFarland, has been created. This division merges three previously existing stand-alone departments: USTA League, Community and Competitive Departments.

· Sandy Marshall has taken the role of Director of Leagues.

· Jodi Manning, former Team Tennis Coordinator for the past six years, has joined the League team effective February 9, 2009. Jodi will coordinate Mixed, Combo and Super Sr. Leagues and join current USTA League employee Dona Garcia, who now coordinates Adult & Sr. Leagues.

· Filling the void in USTA Jr. Team Tennis will be Michelle Willis, the newest employee that began her new role with the association on January 26, 2009. Michelle will be the new leader of USTA Jr. Team Tennis and the Tennis on Campus programs.

· Linda Curtis will now be leading and supervising the team of TPCs.

· Ann Brown, in competitive tennis, will begin exciting educational processes for tournament directors, parents and players that are involved in sanctioned tournaments.

· Andy Gladstone, also in competitive tennis, will oversee the rankings process as well as begin the adventure of sanctioning QuickStart Tennis tournaments in 2009.

· Jose Medina will lead the Resources Division and take a supervisory role for the resource staff.

· Molly Zimmer has become the newest full time Tennis Program Coordinator on the team after working as a community consultant for the past 18 months. Molly will be covering the Space Coast region servicing Flagler, Volusia and Brevard counties.

· Currently, USTA Florida is looking to hire a replacement for Jeff Davis, Tennis Program Coordinator for Region 3 (servicing Polk, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco and Hernando counties) who left USTA Florida after 9 years of exceptional service. USTA Florida is also hiring for TPC positions in the Panhandle and First Coast areas immediately. Interested persons should submit a cover letter and a resume via email to Linda Curtis at curtisL@florida.usta.com. Position descriptions are available upon request.
