USTA Florida strengthened tennis service in the Panhandle region and grassroots regional-level marketing in June with the additions of George English and Tulsi Desai to the USTA Florida staff.

English filled the open position of tennis program coordinator (TPC) for the Panhandle region, including the Emerald Coast, Pensacola, and Tallahassee. He grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, first playing tennis at age 8 at a tennis camp headed by Jimmy Evert. George English Park, a local tennis facility, was named after his grandfather, who moved to the city in 1925.

He has worked in banking for much of his career, and has lived in Tallahassee since 1984. He is married to Debra, a USTA. tennis official, and has three children: Jill, who lives in Jacksonville; Leah, a professional fast pitch softball player; and Quinn, a senior at the College of Charleston. He has served as a volunteer at the Tallahassee Tennis Challenger for the past 15 years.

Desai serves as a program marketer, promoting USTA Florida flagship programs at the local level. She will work closely with the regional TPCs and local league coordinators throughout Florida, as well as marketing coordinator Trina Singian. She recently graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, and formerly served as an intern for USTA Florida, working in marketing, membership and sponsorships.
