USTA Florida Family Doubles Tournament in October

August 20, 2009 07:00 PM
The USTA Florida Family Doubles Championships will be held during the weekend of Oct. 3-5, 2009, at the Heathrow Country Club, located minutes from Orlando. Formerly held in Boca Raton, the event has been moved to central Florida to offer a more centralized location.

"What a great opportunity to not only play tennis, but spend time with your family as well," says Andy Gladstone, competitive tennis coordinator, USTA Florida. "Heathrow is one of the nicest clubs in Florida and Tournament Director Jeff Cohen always does a great job. The Saturday afternoon barbecue will also be a lot of fun. Additionally, the beautiful Hyatt Hotel located minutes from Heathrow will be giving an amazing $85 rate per night."

Team divisions offered will be father-son, father-daughter, mother-son, mother-daughter, brother-brother, brother-sister, sister-sister, and husband-wife divisions of Open, 35-and-over, and 45-and-over on the Heathrow C.C. claycourts.

"My family has very fond memories of the State Family Doubles Championships in years past," says Ann Brown, coordinator of competitive education, USTA Florida, whose son Aaron is a former Florida junior player and current teaching pro. "We have met teams that have become lifelong friends because of the great experience. What can be better than sharing the love of tennis with family and friends?"

Entries close Sept. 30, 2009. For tournament registration and additional info on the event, go to:
