Florida Wildcards at US Open Jrs.

Five Florida players have received wildcards into the main draw of the US Open juniors event, with an additional three receiving wildcards into the qualifying event.

Main draw participants from the Sunshine State will be 16-year-old Gonzales Austin of Miami, 17-year-old Julia Boserup of Boca Raton, 15-year-old Dennis Novikov of Boca Raton, 17-year-old Alexandra Cercone of Seminole, and 17-year-old Johannes (Bob) Van Overbeek of Boca Raton.

Other main draw wildcards are Chase Buchanan (18, New Albany, Ohio), Gail Brodsky (18, Brooklyn, N.Y.), Bjorn Fratangelo (16, Pittsburgh), Jacqueline Cako (17, Brier, Wash.), Junior Ore (16, Gaithersburg, Md.), Lauren Davis (15, Gates Mills, Ohio), Jack Sock (16, Lincoln, Neb.), Ester Goldfeld (16, Brooklyn, N.Y.), Raymond Sarmiento (17, Fontana, Calif.), Grace Min (15, Duluth, Ga.), and Asia Muhammad (18, Henderson, Nev.).

All three Floridians receiving qualifying wildcards are girls under 15 years of age in 13-year-old Victoria Duval of Bradenton, 15-year-old Chanelle Van Nguyen of Coconut Grove, and 14-year-old Sachia Vickery of Miramar.

Other wildcards into the qualifying are Marcos Giron (16, Thousand Oaks, Calif.), Alexios Halebian (15, Glendale, Calif.), Mitchell Krueger (15, Aledo, Texas), Nathan Pasha (17, Atlanta), Shane Vinsant (15, Keller, Texas), Courtney Dolehide (17, Hinsdale, Ill.), and Ellen Tsay (15, Pleasanton, Calif.).

One additional wild card into each of the boys' and girls' qualifying draws will be announced at a later time.

Three US Open Junior Champions -- Andy Roddick (2000), Lindsay Davenport (1992) and Stefan Edberg (1983) -- went on to win the US Open singles title, as did junior runners-up Roger Federer (1998), Boris Becker (1984), Svetlana Kuznetsova (2001) and Martina Hingis (1994).
