Border War Brewing at 2009 Florida-Georgia Jr. Team Tennis Challenge

Florida and Georgia's top Jr. Team Tennis squads will face off in the annual "Border War," the 12th annual Florida-Georgia USTA Jr. Team Tennis Challenge on Oct. 3-4, 2009, at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.

The annual challenge is an invitation-only event featuring the two states' best USTA Jr. Team Tennis squads as decided by their state or sectional champions.

The Florida-Georgia Jr. Team Tennis Challenge was founded in 1998 by the late Janet Louer of USTA Georgia and Andy McFarland of USTA Florida.
Participating teams for Florida this year are:

18-and-under: Tropical Heat (advanced, captain Dolly Morris), The Smart Aces (intermediate, captain Michelle Slaughter), The Deuce Bags (intermediate, captain Eddie Mathews), Team XYNZ (intermediate, captain Dolly Morris), Mills Field (intermediate, captain Sidney Behrens), and Treasure Bay 18's Pirates (intermediate, captain Phil Girardi).

14-and-under: White Marshall (advanced, captain Susan White), Topspin (advanced, captain Larry Creel), Red Wildcats (advanced, captain David Dickinson), Treasure Bay (intermediate, captain Phil Girardi), Biscayne Bulldogs (intermediate, captain Jacqueline Kleis), and Sanlando Acers (intermediate, captain Anita Klingenberg).

12-and-under: Miami Lasers (advanced, captain Dolly Morris), Desoto Sizzlers (intermediate, captain Angela Copeland), Biscayne Islanders (intermediate, captain Jacqueline Kleis), G-2 (intermediate, captain Bobbie Mehan), NRS Acers (intermediate, captain Karin Decoste), and NRS Ralliers (intermediate, captain Karin Decoste).
