The Malivai Washington Kids Foundation (MWKF) raised approximately $160,000 to support its various youth tennis and education programs in September during The Kossak Companies Golf and Tennis Gala, with the dinner gala held in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., at the Sawgrass Marritt Resort and Spa.

The 13th year celebration of the academic and athletic success of students enrolled in the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation featured actors and celebrities such as "the original" Kenny Kramer from Seinfeld fame, Chris Bruno, Gregory Harrison, Emery Moorehead, Bob Thomas, Desi Relaford and many others.

The Tennis Pro-Am kicked off the event at Deerwood Country Club where celebrities and Pro-Am participants played round robin tennis with an awards ceremony following. Approximately 500 guests then attended the gala dinner and awards ceremony at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort and Spa where Adrienne Clark, a 7th grader at Darnell Cookman Middle School was awarded the Student Athlete of the Year award along with a $5,000 scholarship.

Neshelle Scott, a senior at Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville was awarded the Rick Murray "Don't Quit" Award as well as a $5,000 scholarship. Other awards presented included Take Stock in Children scholarships which cover tuition at any Florida college or university.
