Dec. 31 Deadline for USTA Multicultural Tennis Grant

The 2010 United States Tennis Association (USTA) Multicultural Excellence Program Grant deadline is approaching on Dec. 31, 2009. Objectives of the grant are to widen the net of opportunities for young minority players who aspire to excellence in competitive tennis, and to assist junior development programs in enhancing the skills of the coaching staffs.

Applicants must be a year-round program that provides a high level of on-court instruction and off-court training
opportunities, and must have a history of developing tournament level and Sectionally and/or Nationally-ranked players, or demonstrate the ability to develop such. The grant award is $5,000 and includes on-site coaching assistance.

Programs with USPTA or PTR certified coaches on staff will be given preference, and programs must be non-profit or sponsored through a non-profit organization. The program or sponsoring organization must also be a USTA organization member in good standing.
