QuickStart Tennis at Free Jax4Kids Expo in Jacksonville

February 4, 2010 06:00 PM
QuickStart Tennis will take center stage on Feb. 20, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the 2nd Annual Jax4Kids.com Expo, held at the Jacksonville Fair Grounds in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Jax4Kids.com Expo has quickly become the destination for families to do their "one-stop shopping" when it comes to choosing summer camp destinations and activities for children.

Admission to the event, all activities and parking area free. Last year approximately 3,000 families attended the event, and this year already approximately 30,000 parents have visited Jax4Kids.com to seek info on camps and summer activities.

USTA Florida will have a booth on-site as well as a 36-foot QuickStart Tennis court, with pros and volunteers helping throughout the day so kids can experience QuickStart Tennis hands-on.

QuickStart Tennis is the USTA's new official play format for 10-and-under children learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing smaller racquets and slower balls, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. QuickStart Tennis is divided into two different levels -- ages 8-and-under and ages 10-and-under.

"Having QuickStart Tennis featured at the Jax4kids Expo is going to be a great way to expose this program to thousands of local kids that probably have never played tennis in an easy-to-learn format," said USTA Florida Tennis Program Coordinator Amanda Becker. "We will have lots of different information at the booth so parents can get their kids involved in a program and begin playing tennis right away."

The Expo will also offer a large Family Fun Zone with family-friendly activities drawing families in to stay and play for the day.
