QuickStart Tennis, where 10-under children learn the basics of tennis with size-appropriate racquets, courts, nets and balls, is taking off in Miami with recent recreational coaches workshops and upcoming QuickStart Tennis clinics.

On March 6, 2010, Miami-area tennis facilities will be hosting free QuickStart Tennis clinics for the public to come out and learn more about the program. For a list of participating facilities, go to www.ustamiami.com.

"These clinics are open to children, parents, volunteer coaches, tennis teachers, recreational coaches and anyone working with age 10-and-under youth or with children they want to get involved in tennis," says USTA Florida Tennis Program Coordinator for Miami Cathy Nordlund. "Participants will experience the QuickStart Tennis format of play, the six QuickStart variables all programs should adhere to, and play situations and games for children that focus on fun."

The Miami area recently held a QuickStart Tennis workshop attended by 41 tennis teachers and pros representing area facilities/organizations such as the City of Coral Gables, the City of North Miami, Miami-Dade County, the City of Hialeah, Cliff Drysdale Tennis, and the YMCA.

"It is great to see so many of the parks and rec. tennis facilities pros across Miami committed to bring this exciting new format of tennis to their facilities," Nordlund said.
