6 Florida Players at ITF Senior Team Chps. Tennis in Mexico

March 25, 2010 07:00 PM
Seniors World Team ChampionshipsDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- March 26, 2010 -- Six Florida senior players will represent the U.S. next week on age division 35-55 teams at the 30th ITF Seniors World Team Championships hosted by Federacion Mexicana de Tenis, March 29-April 3, 2010, in Mexico City, Mexico.

Florida players are blogging from the event, check for updates at www.ustaflorida.com.

"I arrived in Mexico City Thursday morning. It's my first time in Mexico...I've never even driven across the border from San Diego," blogged Florida player Carolyn Nichols. "Mexico City is at a pretty high altitude, over 7000 feet, and judging by the scenery flying in, very dry. The infamous smog was present up against the hills. But the sun shone brightly and it was warm, and the jacaranda trees are in full bloom. The US teams are staying in the Zona Rosa (Pink Zone) area of Mexico City..."

The events will be held at the following five venues: Club Aleman de Mexico, The Reforma Athletic Club, Club Casablanca Lomas Verdes, Club Casablanca San Angel and Club de Racqueta El Yaqui.

Players representing USTA Florida will be Egan Adams of Palmetto (Fred Perry Cup-Men's 50 & over), Joe Bouquin of Delray Beach (Austria Cup-Men's 55 & over), Trish Riddell of Maitland and Mary Dailey of Delray Beach (Suzanne Lenglen Cup-Women's 35 & over), Vesna McKenna of Hollywood (Young Cup-Women's 40 & over), and Kerry Young of Maitland (Maureen Connolly Cup-Women's 55 & over).
