Florida's Van Nguyen Named to U.S. Junior Fed Cup Squad

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- April 19, 2010 --
Chanelle Van Nguyen of Coconut Grove, Fla., has been named to the U.S. Junior Fed Cup team (16-and-under) that will compete April 30-May 2, 2010, at the USTA Training Center Headquarters located at the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, Fla., to earn a berth in the 16-nation Junior Fed Cup World Final. Other nations participating in the Boca Ration regional include Mexico, Canada, the Bahamas and Puerto Rico.

The Junior Davis Cup and World Junior Tennis (14-and-under) competitions will also be contested, with the top two teams from each division advancing to the 16-nation World Final, held Aug. 2-7, 2010 in Prostejov, Czech Republic. The Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup World Finals will be held Sept. 28-Oct. 3 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. 

Other U.S. Junior Fed Cup team members joining Van Nguyen will be Kyle McPhillips of Willoughby, Ohio, and Grace Min of Duluth, Ga.

Van Nguyen trains full-time at the USTA Training Center Headquarters in Boca Raton, Fla. Last year the U.S. girls' World Junior Tennis 14-under team won its third consecutive (and fourth overall) world title.

Former U.S. junior international team members include Jim Courier, Michael Chang, Andy Roddick, James Blake, Lindsay Davenport, Jennifer Capriati, Mardy Fish, Robby Ginepri, Jamea Jackson, Ashley Harkleroad, and Lisa Raymond.
