Cindy Lozier Named LLC for Jr. Team Tennis

Cindy Lozier of Pace has been named USTA Florida local league coordinator (LLC) for Jr. Team Tennis (JTT) in Escambia and Santa Rosa County. The USTA's QuickStart Tennis program is a division within JTT.

Lozier's role is to promote and develop JTT and QuickStart throughout the two-county area in as many facilities as possible. She has jumped right in the role by visiting all the area tennis sites and their personnel and formulated a plan to host at least two early Spring leagues at Roger Scott Tennis Center in Pensacola and Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze. She has put together a committee to accomplish the USTA Florida JJT and Quickstart goals for the two-county area. USTA Florida hosted a QuickStart Workshop at Roger Scott on Feb. 6 to recruit parents to become captains for the various teams.

Roger Scott Tennis Center Director of Tennis Bruce Caton is working hand-in-hand with Lozier as he tries to make the Scott Tennis Center a model facility for QuickStart Tennis Programs around the country. With funds from the City of Pensacola, the USTA national and USTA Florida, plans are for the construction of eight (8) QuickStart courts at the center. Six of the courts will be the 36'-length courts for 8-and-under QuickStarters, with the remaining two being 60' courts for the 10-and-unders. Mid-2010 is the target for these courts to be completed.
