US Men's 45 Dubler Cup Team | RESULTS

As one of only four players chosen from the United States to play on the Dubler Cup Team, Egan Adams from Palmetto, Fla. brought a wealth of successful tennis experience and versatility to help the US clinch third in this year’s World Team Championships, a prestigious team tennis competition similar to Davis Cup for men 45 and older.  Twenty six nations competed in the International Tennis Federation’s World Team Tennis Championships held at the Club Ali Bey, Belek in Antalya, Turkey April 23-28.

Playing high pressure tennis, the talented US Men’s 45 Dubler Cup Team defeated a tough French team on April 28 in a playoff for 3rd and 4th.  At the No.2 singles position, Mike Fedderly, Palm Desert, CA lost to Freddric Dewogeneire 1-6, 3-6.  John Chatlak, Wheeling, WV, played No.1 singles and defeated Frederic Foures 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 in a tough three set match.  Egan Adams, Palmetto, FL and Val Wilder, Fort Worth, TX played and won the doubles match 6-3, 6-3 placing the team 3rd in the championships.  Val Wilder served as the team Captain.

US Women's 45 Margaret Court Cup Team | RESULTS

Myke Bodisch
from Santa Rosa Beach and Mary Dailey from Delray Beach were on the US Women's 45 Margaret Court Cup Team that finished third with a 2-1 victory over Great Britain. The US lost 2-1 to France in a close semifinal game that came down to a third set doubles match to decide the winner.  France was the eventual champion of the tournament.

Bodisch, whose trip to Turkey was her first travel abroad experience, explained the trip as the most fun she’s ever had.  “The camaraderie and respect between countries was fantastic,” she said.  “This was such a wonderful opportunity to meet players from all over the world and make friends.  It was also nice to have your fellow countrymen cheer you on.”

To document her journey in Turkey and Greece, Bodisch created a blog during the international competition.  To view pictures, results, and read about her adventure abroad, please read her online travel journal at www.mykesturkeytrip.blogspot.com.
