Florida Gulf Coast University was the host site for Lee County Community Tennis Association’s seventh annual Ralleyball Tournament that was held on Saturday, May 7th.  LCCTA Program Director, Mike Welter, organized this season ending party and tournament, “I am very pleased with the turnout and the enthusiasm this party generates,” he said.  Mike enlisted the help of parents, LCCTA Volunteers, Ralleyball Coaches and USA Tennis Florida Community Coordinator Susie Bessire to insure that the Tournament Day was a success.

Children and parents arrived, racquets in hand, at FGCU at 8:30 with the first round of tournament play beginning at 9:00.  After two hours of tennis and three rounds of tournament play the final horn sounded and tournament play ended.  Pizza and sodas were served to all of the children and every child that participated received a blue ribbon, which brought a smile to all of their faces.  During the pizza party one tennis court was set-up as the “hit for prizes” court where adults and kids formed long lines to take a shot at knocking over tennis ball cans to win prizes.  Prizes were donated by USA Tennis Florida and the LCCTA. “ This was a very rewarding and fun filled morning for all of the children and their parents who had been a part of Lee County CTA’S Ralleyball program this season.  “This type of event really helps the kids develop a love for competition as well as the fun social aspect of playing tennis,” said Susie Bessire, USA Tennis Florida’s Community Coordinator in Region 7.
