To kick off the Summer Tennis Camp at Arthur Ashe Middle School USA Tennis Florida’s Bobby Curtis Tennis on the Move presented by the Andy Roddick Foundation went to Fort Lauderdale on June 1, 2005. Over 400 students tried tennis under the watchful eye and leadership of Cheryl Rivera (Community Coordinator.)

“Despite the weather and the constant rain, the event was a complete success,” said Mike Eady, TOTM Manager “the event was well organized and the school’s peer counselors helped run the games and everyone had a good time.”

Cheryl Rivera commented,  “It was awesome to see so many young volunteers participate and lend a helping hand. These Volunteers are the future of our community.”

Thank you also to Corey D. Wilson, Assistant Principal, for making USA Tennis Florida and Bobby Curtis Tennis on the Move feel so welcome.

The School’s goal is to continue to live the dream of Arthur Ashe: developing character, leadership and academic excellence through the sport of tennis.

For the 4th time USA Tennis Florida’s Bobby Curtis Tennis on the Move was part of the MaliVai Washington Kidz Foundation in Jacksonville. On June 4, 2005 over 250 Kidz played tennis, many of them for the very first time. Guided by Mike Eady (TOTM Manager) and Dede Allen (Community Consultant) and 10 volunteers, the kids played Mini Tennis, Obstacle Course, Pocket Game, Tic-Tac-Toe, Dart Game, Fast Serve and Hit-the-Dummy. It was a great group of participants, staff and volunteers. The foundation provided breakfast, lunch, and refreshments for all volunteers. It was a fun event and everyone agreed that we could hardly wait to do it again next year.
