Boynton Beach Residents Enthusiastic About New USTA Program

July 12, 2005 12:37 PM

On Sunday, June 26, more than 100 Boynton Beach area residents gathered at the Valencia Shores Tennis Center to enjoy fun, fitness and friends. The United States Tennis Association Cardio Tennis Program, provided by area tennis pro Susan Allshouse, was introduced to participants.  Mike Dionne of Jacksonville entertained residents with a clinic while resident pro Geoff Moore provided expertise for round robins.

The 55 recruitment event provided an opportunity for locals to sneak preview the cardio tennis program, receive prizes at a “Hit for Prizes” station, and enjoy a fun-filled day of tennis in their community.

"The residents were wonderful and everyone enjoyed some great fun, fitness and friends through tennis activities," volunteer committee chair Myrna Mittelmark said.  Many of the ladies that attended are looking forward to participating in the USTA Senior Women’s League this Fall.

USA Tennis Florida Community Coordinator Janet Sprague planned and executed this promotional event with the help of many volunteers, specifically Mittelmark who, according to Sprague, “spearheaded the volunteer efforts with a committee of volunteers who made the event a wonderful success.  I am so thankful for all the residential volunteers that came out on Sunday!”
