FREE Day of Tennis for Miami-Dade County

August 9, 2005 12:50 PM
Miami-Dade Parks and USA Tennis Florida partnered on Saturday Aug. 20 for three hours of tennis and entertainment.  Families gathered at the Kendale Lakes Park for a FREE day of activities with local tennis pros and programs for seniors, adults and children; beginners, intermediate and advanced players competed for prizes, jumped in the bounce house and participated in a funtathlon course.

“Beat the Pro” was a highlight among attendees – there were opportunities to hit against pros and test serve speed.  There were informational booths for tennis programs and Miami-Dade Parks' after-school and sports development programs.

USA Tennis Florida Community Coordinator Cathy Nordlund said she was pleased that the weather held up for their morning of outdoor tennis activities.

“This is just the beginning of tennis in West Kendall,” Nordlund said.  “I am looking forward to many more events in the Miami-Dade region.”
