Cardio Tennis: Heart Pumpin’ Fitness!  Have you tried it yet?  Get on the ball, and join the hundreds of energetic tennis players throughout Florida who are trying this new, exciting fitness program – a great new way to get in shape and burn calories while working on your tennis skills!

On Saturday, Sept. 10, 25 local pros and 20 resort guests were introduced to this new fitness craze – Cardio Tennis.  Kaiser Tennis Florida (KT Florida) Executive Director Lisa White paired up with USA Tennis Florida Community Consultant Barbara Kaiser to put on this introductory event at the Colony Beach and Tennis Resort in Long Boat Key, FL.

The day began with 25 local pros gathering at the Colony Resort for a two-hour seminar directed by White and Kaiser.  At the completion of the seminar, resort guests joined the pros for a session of Cardio Tennis lead by Tennis Industry Association’s cardio tennis teacher Michelle Krause who took over with vigor.

Cardio Tennis, featuring tennis drills at a constant, high-energy rate, is a group activity for players of all ability levels.  The focus is more about continual movement and exercise and less about hitting great forehands and backhands.  The goal is to give every participant a fun, challenging experience.  A Cardio Tennis program will elevate a person’s heart rate into their aerobic zone.  The class consists of a warm-up, cardio workout and cool down.

Refreshments were served and hats were given to guests who participated in the Saturday event.

“Introducing something new is always exciting,” Kaiser said.  “Cardio Tennis is such a wonderful conglomeration of tennis, fitness and fun.  The lively music definitely helped pump up the participants, including me!”
