Thirty-seven new and returning USTA Florida Junior Team Tennis Area League Coordinator (ALC) volunteers were treated to an expense-paid workshop and training at the Tampa Airport Marriot Jan. 21-22.

Volunteers were instructed on how to set up and run Junior Team Tennis programs in their communities.  Each participant received a packet of information and a t-shirt; and an appreciation gift was given to all 2005 ALC's.

There was an Appreciation Dinner where an ice-breaker game was played.  The weekend was enhanced by USTA national’s Marikate Murren, who was a guest speaker, and three USTA Florida volunteers who led sessions: Rita Gladstone, Irene Tharin and Diana Gardner.

USTA Florida Coordinator of Junior Team Tennis Jodi Manning said she hoped the event was beneficial to the ALCs.

“For these local programs to run successfully, ALCs need to be informed with up to date 2006 rules and regulations,” Manning said.  “The coordinators spent much of the weekend brainstorming and sharing effective ideas with one another.  It was great for them to learn from each other!”
