February 7, 2006 01:39 PM

More than 300 Brevard County locals gathered for the “To Serve with Love: Tennis Under the Stars” charity event that raised money for the Brevard Women’s Center Jan. 27 at the Kiwi Tennis Club at Indian Harbour Beach.

With a mission to empower women and their families by providing support, education, counseling, information and services, the center is staffed by a dedicated group of professionals and volunteers committed to helping those in need within the community.

USTA Florida Community Coordinator Trina Singian emceed the event which was presented by the Women’s Center Guild.

“It was a lot of fun and it went to a great cause,” Singian said.

An exhibition match was held, featuring two local pros Mark Harrison and Robin Keener who played against Magnus Gustafsson and Tami Whitlinger, [who reached number 47 on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour!]

A $10,000 reverse raffle grand prize was awarded, music was provided by Don Soledad and World Element, and there were door prizes and a silent auction.

Constant action and entertainment were provided throughout the evening, and Women's Center Guild president Christine Lance was extremely pleased with the turnout and money raised.
