Last year, USTA Florida gave a grant to the Hank Klein Boys and Girls Club to begin an after-school tennis program.  This year, the program is expected to expand to more areas throughout Miami-Dade County.  The South Beach Boys & Girls Club is leading the way!

Two days a week for six weeks, Regional Director Rick Pardon and local professional Allen Gold worked at the South Beach location to teach more than 120 children the game of tennis.  Rick and Allen trained Boys and Girls Club staff to teach the program once the six weeks was over.

USTA Florida Community Coordinator Cathy Nordlund is excited about the expansion of this program within Miami-Dade County.

“As you can see from the pictures of the kids, they were having the best time!” Cathy said.  “The staff is also ready and excited to continue this program.”

South Beach Boys and Girls Club Director Hippo Rodriguez is also thrilled about the addition of this program for his children.  The children can relieve stress, exercise and have FUN while playing tennis!
