Miami families!  It is time to register your 8 to 14 year olds for the 2006 summer National Junior Tennis League (NJTL).  The program will take place June 12 through July 21 at 41 city and county parks within Miami-Dade County.

Entry is free; however, children must be enrolled in a summer program at a public park to participate.  The Greater Miami Tennis Foundation chapter provides racquets, T-shirts, instructors and transportation for the six-week league.

More than 500 tennis players have already signed up for the program, which offers friendship, tennis instruction, match play and skills for a lifetime.  Two jamborees are planned for July 24 and 25 at the Crandon Park Tennis Center.  More than 43 teams will compete for the championship to cap off the summer league.

The Greater Miami Tennis Foundation NJTL chapter was started by tennis greats Arthur Ashe and Charlie Pasarell in 1974.  Sponsors include the United States Tennis Association (USTA), The Children’s Trust, Knight Foundation and Burger King.
