Mal Washington Kids Foundation (MWKF) Executive Director Terri Florio hosted the 2006 annual Verizon Wireless Annual Kids For Kids Tennis Carnival on June 10 with the help of more than 100 dedicated volunteers.

No tennis experience was necessary, and plenty of tennis activities were provided for children aged 6 to 12 in the Regency Square Mall front parking lot in Jacksonville.

USTA Florida community consultant Dede Allen said there was face and hair painting, a portable rock climbing wall, games, music and demonstrations.

“Oh yeah,” she said.  “And there was TENNIS too!”

Although the temperature was in the mid-90s, the kids had a wonderful time running around checking out all the different activities.  Local kids from all walks of life participated in this year’s event, and the staff and volunteers always look forward to being a part of it.

“We just want the kids to have fun on a hot summer day,” Dede said.  “I think they did!”
