The Greater Miami Tennis & Education Foundation announced that Fila and Wilson Sporting Goods Co. recently gave tennis clothes and equipment valued at more than $6,000 to members of the Adopt-A-Player program sponsored by GMTEF and First Serve in Miami.

The Adopt-A-Player program was initiated with the vision to produce high-level tennis players from inner-city parks. Eleven players were chosen in March based on their level of play, commitment, scholarship and sportsmanship.  They receive sponsorship and funding to cover tournament expenses, such as entry fees, equipment and transportation. Since then, players participated in tournaments across the state and nation.

The Greater Miami Tennis & Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that offers free tennis, education and life skills programs to Miami children. Since 1974, GMTEF has made an impact on the lives of more than 2,000 children annually through after-school and summer programs in neighborhood parks and schools. Generous sponsors, donors and members support GMTEF in helping kids stay off the streets, perform on and off the court, pursue a college education and be winners in life.
