The first of its kind, Central Florida High Performance Playcenter took place on April 19 at Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando. This event was sponsored by USTA Florida and was organized and directed by 2004 Venezuelan Olympic Coach Maxsy Jimenez, who is the Director of High Performance for MG Tennis.  Coach Scott Boruszewski, Director of Instructional Programs at the Center was present along Susie Rahimitabar, Director of Marketing and PR for MG Tennis.

The event was a great success as 44 high-ranked junior players had the opportunity to interact with one another in a friendly fashion and gauge their game against the best players from Central Florida, age 12-16. Coach Maxsy Jimenez said, “It was a pleasure to have a great group of aspiring pro and collegiate players with us.  The response from players and parents was very positive and their desire to come back tells us there was a need for unity.”

He added, “The resources are available now to produce champions in our area. In the past 10 years there has been a significant increase of talented players in Central Florida along with quality-experienced coaches. This makes the perfect combination to fully develop these athletes.”

This program is set to run throughout the summer and possibly yearly. The next dates of the events are as follows: May 17, June 28, July 26 and August 16 from 9am to 12:30pm.

The locations for the event will be at Lake Cane Tennis Center and Sheraton’s Vistana Resort.  Please call 407-254-9170 or visit http://www.mgtennis.com/ for more information.
