May 1, 2008 12:21 PM

On Tuesday, April 29, USTA Florida staff members joined hundreds in the local community for a mile walk in the 2008 Easter Seals Walk With Me at Mainland High School. Easter Seals Walk With me is about putting hope within reach for people with disabilities and walking with those you directly impact. USTA Florida has been a monetary donor and sponsor of the event for many years, hoping to positively influence individuals with disabilities and support their families.

This year, Justin Bele was USTA Florida’s ambassador. Seven-year-old Justin has been a client of Easter Seals since 2001. He was diagnosed hearing impaired as an infant. Learning to communicate, crawl and sit were a slow process for Justin. Doctor’s didn’t even know if Justin would walk. However; even as a baby he displayed a sense of independence. He received speech and language therapy and physical therapy at Easter Seals. He can now speak in full sentences and he doesn’t just walk, he runs! He also loves music and playing “air drums”.

After elementary school each day, Justin attends Easter Seals. His speech continues to improve and is working hard on reading and math. His mother credits Easter Seals with helping Justin reach all the major milestones in his development.

Easter Seals has been helping individuals with disabilities and special needs, and their families, live better lives for more than 85 years. It is known locally and nationally for excellence in management, efficiency, and most importantly, direct client services Whether helping someone improve physical mobility, return to work or simply gain greater independence for everyday living, Easter Seals offers a variety of services to help people with disabilities address life's challenges and achieve personal goals.
