Krop Boys' Tennis Team Makes Nationals

The Krop High boys' tennis team won the national high school invitational Southeast Region on Saturday, April 7 to advance to its first national high school tennis invitational.

In the semifinal match, Krop beat Bailer Prep from Tennessee 6-3. Gino Ramierez won at No. 2 singles 8-7, 7-0. Mark Schanerman won at No. 4 singles 8-0 and Alec Krantz at No. 5 singles 8-7,

In the final, Krop defeated Memphis University school 6-3. Ryan Kim won at No. 1 singles 8-1. Bill Federhofer won at No. 2 singles 8-0 and Ramierez at No. 3 singles 8-1.

''Representing Florida in the national tournament is big honor for us,'' Krop coach Mike Kypriss said. "Three-time state champ Ryan Kim really set the tone for us early with some tough wins.''

Krop has won the state championship two of the past three years, with a second-place finish in 2005. The high school tennis semifinals will take place April 21 in Cincinnati.
