USTA National Hard Court Championships

• USTA Boys 18 & 16 National Hard Court Championships, August 3-12, Kalamazoo, MI

• USTA Boys 14 National Hard Court Championships, August 5-12, San Antonio, TX

• USTA Boys 12 National Hard Court Championships, August 4-10, N. Little Rock, AR

• USTA Girls 18 National Hard Court Championships, August 5-12, Berkeley, CA

• USTA Girls 16 National Hard Court Championships, August 5-12, San Diego, CA

• USTA Girls 14 National Hard Court Championships, August 4-11, Peachtree City, GA

• USTA Girls 12 National Hard Court Championships, August 4-10, Lexington, KY

Highlights:

Girls
• No. 7 seed Victoria Duval from Delray Beach, FL finished second behind No. 8 seed Amanda Lin from West Chester, OH in the final round of the USTA Girls 12 National Hard Court Championships.

• No. 12 seed Lauren Embree from Marco Island, FL and No. 13 seed Allie Will from Boca Raton, FL made it to the round of 16 in the main draw of the USTA Girls 18 National Hard Court Championships.  Allie lost an extremely close 3 set match to No. 4 seed Hilary Bartel from Newhall, CA while Lauren lost to No. 2 seed Ashley Weinhold of Spicewood, TX – the eventual Gold Ball winner.  Lauren also took home second place in Girls’ 18 Doubles, with partner Asia Muhammad from Henderson, NV.

• No. 13 seed Alexandra Cercone from Seminole, FL finished third place in the Girls 16 National Hard Court Championships after she successfully defeated No. 1 seed Kaitlyn Christian from Orange, CA in the playoffs.  She also clinched the Gold Ball with fellow Florida doubles partner, Jacqueline Kasler of Gulf Breeze, in the Girls’ 16 Doubles Championship.

• No. 9 seed Chanelle Van Nguyen from Coconut Grove, FL made it to the quarterfinal round of the Girls 14 National Hard Court Championships before losing to No. 1 seed Grace Min from Lawrenceville, GA – the eventual Gold Ball winner.

Boys
• No. 30 seed Ty Trombetta from Hallandale, FL upset No. 4 seed Nate Schnugg from Medford, OR in Friday’s quarterfinals of the Boys 18 National Hard Court Championships.  Ty later lost in the semis, but finished third overall after his opponent withdrew in the playoffs.

• No. 25 seed Jeff Dadamo from Tampa, FL finished fifth after defeating No. 15 seed Jordan Rux from Kerrville, TX in the Boys 18 National Hard Court Consolation Finals.

• In the Boys 18 National Hard Court Doubles draw, No. 22 seed Joey B. Burkhardt from St. Augustine, FL and doubles partner, No. 18 seed Wil Spencer from Ponce De Leon, FL, made it to the quarterfinal round of the main draw, before losing to the No. 3 seed doubles team of Bradley Klahn and Dennis Nevolo.

• No. 12 seed Brennan Boyajian from Weston, FL and doubles partner, Zach Hunter from Weston, FL also advanced to the quarterfinal round in the Boys 18 National Hard Court Doubles draw, before losing to the No. 5 seed doubles team of Tyler J. Hochwalt and Michael McClune.

• No. 14 seed Frank Carleton from Naples, FL reached the quarterfinal round before losing to eventual Gold Ball champion and No. 1 seed, Tennys Sandgren from Gallatin, TN.

• No. 24 seed William Federhofer from North Miami, FL, No. 13 seed Sekou Coker Bangoura from Bradenton, FL and No. 12 seed Spencer Wolf from Coral Springs, FL all reached the round of 16 at the Boys 16 National Hard Court Championships.

• Sekou Coker Bangoura was awarded the esteemed Sportsmanship Award at the Boys 16 National Hard Court Championships.

• No. 10 seed Jeremy Efferding from Lake Worth, FL, finished second at the Boys 14 National Hard Court Championships.  Efferding, who beat second-seeded Marcos Giron in the round of 16, eventually lost to No. 9 seed Spencer Simon from Santa Barbara, CA in the finals.

• No. 6 seed Michael Rinaldi from Palm City, FL finished sixth at the USTA Boys 14 National Hard Court Championships, after losing to No. 16 seed Jack Sock, a tough competitor from Lincoln, NE.

• No. 11 seed Grayson Goldin from Bradenton made it to the semi-finals at the USTA Boys 12 National Hard Court Championships after upsetting No. 6 seed Konrad Zieba from Chicago.  Grayson lost in the semis to No. 2 seed Conrad Harron 6-4, 6-3, and finished 4th overall.  Grayson and his partner Ognjen Samardzic, also from Bradenton, won the silver ball in doubles as the No. 2 seeds. 

• No. 12 seed, Baker Newman from Miami, FL, made it to the round of 16 at the USTA Boys 12 National Hard Court Championships before losing to No. 1 seed and eventual Gold Ball winner Tyler Gardiner from Novi, MI.
