Ed Krass displayed pioneer qualities in his development of “One-on-One” Doubles play.  Krass, "One-on-One" Doubles Founder & College Tennis Academy Director, is hopeful and enthusiastic about this new form of tennis play.

The inaugural “One-on-One” Doubles collegiate championships were held at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) in Ft. Myers Sept. 9-11.  Under the supervision of J. Webb Horton, Assistant Athletic Director and Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at FGCU and Krass, a truly exciting weekend of college tennis was brought to the Fort Myers/Naples area.  USA Tennis Florida Director of Competitive Tennis Andy Gladstone said the tournament was exciting to watch, and very cutting-edge.

“’One-on-One Doubles promotes neglected skills of the modern player such as volleying and transitioning,” Gladstone said.  I had a great time watching and feel that Ed Krass is a great promoter of tennis.

Not only did Krass bring great tennis action to the FGCU Courts he also brought along a great blues band from the Tampa area to entertain the coaches, staff and supporters on Friday night as a celebration for the College “One-on-One” Tournament World Premier.  Krass and Horton gave special vocal performances that were crowd pleasers!

Krass feels that because "One-on-One" Doubles is a new, exciting sport that truly showcases each tennis shot, the nation's sports networks are covering more tennis in a different way!

His first show, Florida Collegiate "One-on-One" Doubles, will premiere on Fox College Sports (FCS) on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. (ET) on FCS Atlantic.  The program re-airs on FCS Central on Monday, Oct. 10 at 12 p.m. (ET) and FCS Pacific on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. (ET).  Krass’ second show, Alabama Collegiate "One-on-One" Doubles, will premiere on Fox College Sports (FCS) on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. (ET) on FCS Atlantic.

USA Tennis Florida, the USPTA, Tennis Week, ITA, Fox College Sports, and the Tennis Channel have sponsored the first two Collegiate "One-on-One" Doubles events.

“I am looking to grow the game into the junior, collegiate, professional ranks and senior divisions,” Krass said.  He and his advisory board are hoping to develop a ‘collegiate-professional’ circuit where touring professionals play college players in a series of tournaments held on college campuses.

“The idea here is to bring the spirit of the serve-and-volley game back into the world of competitive tennis,” Krass said.  “We want to start with four tournaments per year.”
