USTA Florida Tournament Directors Go to School!

January 23, 2006 02:06 PM

More than 35 enthusiastic tournament directors from around the state were treated to an exciting crash course in Tournament Data Manager (TDM) on Jan. 22 in Tampa.  Just like Bob Dylan’s song says, ‘The Times They Are A-Changin', so does running sanctioned tournaments.  Tournament Directors have said goodbye to handwritten draws and determining opponents from out of the hat.  TDM is the USTA’s cutting-edge personal computer program for running tournaments.

United States’ TDM guru Adnan Zaidi entertained the audience for four hours and was able to reach the novice to the expert.  Zaidi’s organized, understandable approach made for easy, well-received learning.  Tennis Director Page Buck was glad he came and brought his whole staff.

“I knew some of the information,” Page said.  “But we all learned a lot more.”

USTA Florida Competitive Tennis Assistant Ann Brown organized the event, and she was very pleased with the turnout.

“I only expected 20 and a whopping 36 TDs attended,” Brown said.  “I was ecstatic!”

All TDs were not only treated to a day of learning, but enjoyed a plentiful lunch, gifts and a raffle.
