Company officials announced that the Fila Cup Alumni Doubles Challenge will premier during the 2006 NASDAQ-100 Open, March 31-April 2. The Fila Cup, administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), is a pilot program for avid varsity and recreational collegiate tennis alumni from across the country. Opening rounds will be held at Patch Reef Park Tennis Center in Boca Raton, Fla. on March 31, with final rounds being played at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park on April 1 to 2 during the NASDAQ-100 Open in Key Biscayne.

The Fila Cup Alumni Doubles Challenge will consist of 32 men's and women's doubles teams. Participants must be at least 35 years old, and the combined age of each doubles team must be a minimum of 75 years old. To be eligible to compete, at least one player per team must have played varsity collegiate tennis and both must have received an undergraduate degree.

"This event is what we hope will be the start of a new way to promote collegiate tennis," says ITA Executive Director David A Benjamin. "Alumni are a vital part to any tennis program and the Fila Cup provides them with a new and exciting avenue to become involved with their alma maters."

The finalist and championship teams will be recognized on court during the NASDAQ-100 Open finals on April 2. And the championship teams' collegiate varsity tennis programs will receive a financial donation from Fila.
