Sheriff Jim Coats Third Annual Clearwater Women’s Open is the seventh women’s event of the 2007 USTA Pro Circuit season, with the main draw beginning Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at the Henry L. McMullen Tennis Complex in Clearwater, Fla.  Over the past three years, this tournament has become an integral part of the Pinellas County community and has created a host of opportunities for developing community tennis activities, attracting new players and recharging the energy of existing players.

Keep an eye out for three players with Florida ties: Allie Will of Boca Raton, Tiffany Dabek of Bradenton, and Jessica Kirkland of Miami.  Kirkland, the first American to win the Orange Bowl junior championships since 1989 when she did it in 2004, recently attempted to qualify for the Australian Open.  Will just captured the 2006 Orange Bowl 16s singles title in December.

In addition, Florida's girls 16-and-under No. 2-ranked junior Alexandra Cercone of Seminole was awarded a USTA wildcard into the qualifier, as was 14-year-old Morgan Basil of St. Petersburg to the main draw.  After a tough match on Sunday, Alexandra fell to Laurene Fayol (FRA) 6-1, 3-6, 7-5.

Show your support for our Florida girls and stay tuned for results!
