2006 USTA Florida League Fees

October 20, 2005 10:04 AM
USTA Florida will increase the player league fee in 2006 by $4.00.  This increase, the first in more than 12 years, covers all USTA League Tennis programs conducted by USTA Florida.  The Leagues Council, an 11-member group of volunteers who establish the policies and procedures for USTA League Tennis programs throughout Florida, unanimously approved this increase, citing the increased costs of hosting 12 championship events each year and the need to more adequately reimburse local league coordinators for their travel and other expenses.  Half of the $4.00 increase will go to these coordinators who put in numerous volunteer hours organizing league programs throughout the state.  The expense reimbursement of these 60 volunteers has remained unchanged for more than 15 years.  The other half of the increase will be used to offset the increased costs of player awards and amenities as well as the supplies and travel of the volunteers and staff that support the USTA League Tennis programs and run the championship events throughout Florida.

At the same time, the Leagues Council announced that the per-player fee for the Adult, Senior, Super Senior, and Mixed Doubles championship events will remain unchanged for 2006, in spite of the sharply increased costs associated with these events.  Rather than player parties, the Leagues Council has opted to provide amenities such as fruit, water and sports drinks for the players on-site during events.  In addition, each captain of the teams advancing to a sectional championship will receive a special gift in appreciation of his/her efforts.
