Larsen Lands New LLC Position

June 20, 2008 03:39 PM

The USTA Florida Section announced that Micheline Larsen of Orlando is the new Local League Coordinator for the Adult Women’s Tennis League in Osceola, Orange and Seminole counties (Region 4).  She has been a volunteer for the USTA Florida Section for three years and brings a proactive approach to USTA League Tennis in Orlando.

Larsen adds the Adult Women’s Local League Coordinator (LLC) position to her long list of existing LLC duties.  She currently administers the Adult Mixed League, Senior League, Senior Combo League and Senior Men’s League in Orlando.  She also assists USTA Florida Community Coordinator, Shelly Licorish, with the USTA Florida booth during different conference events.  Reintroduced to tennis as an adult by her brother’s two children, Larsen says she loves the game of tennis because it is not just a physical sport, but a mental sport as well.

“It helps keep people young and that is what I like about it,” Larsen said.  “I am one of those people who like to work and my goal is to develop the beginner tennis players in Central Florida because there are little leagues for beginners.

“There is definitely a need that has not been previously met before.”

Larsen replaces Jenny Jolinski, who has been a long standing LLC for the Orlando area and USTA Florida for many years.

“When you can bring new people on the tennis courts to play, it is a high.” Larsen said.  “You form friendships and give people an avenue to have fun and be social.”
